A splendid crowd flocked into the Lancaster Methodist Church to hear a concert from our three u3a music groups: Acoustic Music ; Recorders and Ukulele.
A wide repertoire was explored by the groups, with solo guitar and singing from the six acoustic performers, a variety of composers including a tune written by Henry VIII (no, not Greensleeves) from the nine recorders ranging in size, and an irresistible sing-a-long with the twelve ukuleles which had the audience tapping their feet and no doubt remembering their dancing days.
The music groups had arranged the concert as part of this year’s 35-year celebrations, but it is also the case that last year’s performance was so much enjoyed that this return was by popular demand. It certainly met expectations and now seems that an annual concert will be an eagerly anticipated part of the Calendar.
