Chris Freeman will give us a very different view of this tropical paradise and tell us about the history of Tenerife, otherwise known as "The Beach of the Americans", and how it came into being. 2000 indigenous Guanche people, who originally called their island Tamaran, still live in caves there.

We will hear about its 20 million year volcanic history (there are over 300 seismic tremors a year) the first colonisations, the pyramids of Guimar, the conquistadors of the 1400s and on to the the modern day invaders.
