Classic Novels New and Old

Status:Active, open to new members
Group email: Classic Novels New and Old group
When: On Thursday evenings 7:30 pm
2nd in month
Venue: Member's House

The group, ‘Classic Novels New and Old’, meets in the homes of its members to discuss a literary work agreed upon by them on each prior occasion. We meet on the second Thursday evening of the month. Lifts can normally be arranged for those without cars.

Our title indicates that we take a broad view of what is a classic: the only definite criterion is that the author is no longer alive! Thus we have discussed, for example, works by Dorothy L. Sayers and Peter Ustinov, as well as by Defoe and Balzac. We also occasionally take a look at film and TV adaptations, and dip into the life stories of our writers.
