Interest Groups

Around 70 members of the History group, waiting for the talk to begin, sitting on comfortable chairs.

Interest Groups are all run by volunteers giving their time, skills and experience to offer you the opportunity to not only get out and about but also to learn a new skill and to meet others like yourselves who wish to learn.

In u3a groups, the leader is not meant to be the fount of all knowledge as all members participate in suggesting and organising group activities.

All our groups are friendly, welcoming and offer a relaxed environment in which to learn, enjoy and socialise. We always offer support to anyone who wishes to start another group.

In principle, all members are entitled to membership of all groups. However, for practical reasons, some group sizes must be limited, e.g. to take into account the amount of available equipment or space in a room. Further detail is provided as necessary in the information about individual groups.

When you want to go to a meeting for the first time, you should contact the leader of the group. If you are already a member, you can go to the Groups page on the Members Portal for contact details, or contact our Groups Coordinator stating your membership number.
