The Folk Dancing group with the five members of the band, posed for the Christmas photo.

The Folk Dance Group is a very friendly group. We dance ceilidh and traditional country dances with callers.

All members are welcome, no experience is necessary as full instruction is given. All the steps are 'called', so they are easy to follow, and it doesn't matter if you haven't a partner to go with, as we pair up for each dance with more experienced dancers supporting beginners. No one is left out.

The first Thursday of the month is easier dancing and everyone is welcome.  The third Thursday is more demanding with slightly harder dances at a faster pace. Both sessions require a reasonable level of mobility and balance as a lot of dances have a turning move.  Please wear suitable footwear to reduce the risk of injury.

The music is provided by musicians so we are frequently able to dance to different live instruments at each session - from a selection of concertinas, guitar, fiddle and drum. This helps to make it a special experience.

Come and dance with us for fun and fitness!

Our three words to describe our group: fun - lively - sociable

Ladies and gentlemen are dancing and smiling cheerfully.

Disabled parking at rear and limited ordinary parking; wheelchair accessible. Bus: number 11 from Bus Station, number 4 from University via Infirmary.

Limited car parking behind Quaker Meeting House. Accessible from the car park but there are steps at the front gate. Please take extra care when entering and exiting the car park both on foot and by car. The access is very narrow.
