Blame it on the Beatles and Bill Shankly - Dr John Winter

Last year, John's talk for us, "The Cunard Yanks" was a great success. This month John's illustrated talk is based on another of his top selling books and tells about The Beatles, Liverpool and the changing teenage world in the magical sixties. John, born in Liverpool, was studying medicine at Liverpool University in the sixties and became involved, as a singer and songwriter, in the burgeoning music scene. Those of us who lived through those times will be taken back to the early days of The Beatles, and the famous Cavern Club. Bill Shankly creeps into the story and through him Liverpool F.C. went from strength to strength. By the mid sixties, through music and football, Liverpool transformed its image and The Beatles had the world at their feet.
