A Brief History of Entertainment - Mervyn G Saunders.

Mervyn is a member of "Friends of the Grand Order of Water Rats", a member of Lions Clubs International and is a founder member of his local u3a. He delivers interesting talks about entertainment in its many forms. In this one, nostalgia abounds when he tells various tales about the centuries-old Theatre Royal in Drury Lane, London and the many present day links it shares in many of the expressions we use in our speech today - and don't forget the ghosts! Mervyn will talk about Beer Gardens of the 17th century, Music Hall, Variety, Pierrots, Circus, Film, Radio and Television and on to the modern day and the Internet.
