35 u3a members gathered in Torrisholme on Saturday night for an absolutely super evening of wine tasting run by Sue. She had chosen 6 very different, excellent wines with generous food pairings that delighted all of us.
We started with a soft pink Prosecco Rose that was popular with Sue and Pippa, then tasted Barbara’s favourite Beaujolais, next was a very popular French Sauvignon. Then Sue served what was a favourite for many of us, a really delicious Gewürztraminer. Some excellent choices.
Sue had worked very hard to provide food pairings from cream cheese with smoked salmon, a range of cheeses, a lovely pate then onto unexpected but delicious strawberries and cream and finally a lovely chocolate cake with Colin, Trevor and George’s favourite wine, the S E Australian Merlot.
A very happy and satisfied group of u3a friends all expressed their gratitude at the end of the night to Sue for providing such a wonderful evening.
We are all looking forward to the next wine tasting evening before Christmas and Sue ended by asking for someone to step forward and volunteer to run this next event. A text to the her would be appreciated.
